A Same-Sex Wedding Outside the Usual Standards
One morning, a few months ago, I read the email Giuseppe had sent me, and I immediately imagined it would be a beautiful wedding outside the usual rules — and that’s exactly how it was.
Not so much because it was a gay wedding photography service in Palermo, but because Giuseppe and Ivano (as their close friends call them, “GiuseppeIvano”) and their wonderful friends are truly extraordinary people.
Throughout the entire day, one sentence echoed in my mind, loud and clear — a sentence that a dear colleague and mentor had shared with me during a workshop I attended some time before. The sentence was: “What matters is not how, but why.”
Yes, because everything surrounding GiuseppeIvano has its own reason why.
On their wedding day, wherever I looked, I felt that things, people, sounds, scents, and places all carried a deep meaning, creating an atmosphere of family warmth, even in the broadest sense.
The emotional intensity of everyone taking part could be felt in every corner of the ceremony, and I have to admit that I too was overwhelmed with emotion as I had the chance to witness it so closely during my first gay wedding photography service in Palermo.
I worked extremely hard not to miss a single moment of that day, creating a truly emotional reportage with great attention to detail.
While laying out this photo story, the images naturally and almost spontaneously fit together through the language of storytelling in an extraordinary way.
The couple’s home, which looked like a museum, transported and inspired us deeply, while Officine Baronali Luogo Contemporaneo, where both the ceremony and reception took place, overwhelmed us with its intimate and enveloping atmosphere. I also experienced this search for the “why” in the flavors of the catering service by Giuseppe Costa of Il Bavaglino. The food was cooked live among the guests, and the experience engaged and intoxicated all of our senses.
